One slot, black walnut above, aluminum below. The wood carries the look and the metal carries the mass — a combination that costs more to make than a moulded plastic dock and shows it on a desk.

It takes devices between 0.7 and 1.5 inches thick, laptops and iPads alike.

Scratch-resistant pads face the walnut panel, silicone cushioning sits within the metal below, and anti-slip silicone underneath keeps the whole thing planted on any desktop.

It is made by hand from leftover wood and recyclable aluminum, so what would have been waste ends up holding the laptop.
