The upright is fixed top and bottom with eight screws and reinforced by a metal strip, and its load-bearing figure is specific: five laptops totalling about 20 pounds moved the platform down only 0.4 inch. Non-slip mats are held with 3M adhesive, which handles temperature swings better than a standard pad that eventually curls at the edges.
